The Committee of Ukrainian citizens considers the forthcoming signing in Vilnius association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union as an important and necessary step towards the return of Ukraine to the European family of nations. The conclusion of this agreement will mean that Ukraine has chosen a civilized way to further their development prospects and refused to return to the savagery of the Soviet Union, which is now trying to restore Russia under the guise of the Customs Union.
The Committee of Ukrainian citizens requires the current administration to stop all sorts of speculation surrounding the issue of elimination of the country’s system of selective justice and the immediate and unconditional release from prison of Yulia Tymoshenko, providing it with full legal and political rehabilitation . The essence of the matter lies in the inadmissibility of violating the principles of fair political competition, adopted in the civilized world, and the Ukrainian government should once and for all put an end to this shameful phenomenon.
The Committee of Ukrainian citizens warns the current government of the disastrous consequences for the Ukrainian economy and the policies that will come immediately in the event of failure of the process of signing an association agreement with the European Union. All political and other responsibility for any consequences will lie entirely on the incumbent President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his associates in the Party of Regions.
The Committee of Ukrainian citizens asks the competent bodies of the European Union and the United States immediately to the Ukrainian government with all the necessary advice aimed at simple explanation of the negative consequences that would come in the event of failure of Ukraine to sign an association agreement with the EU.
