Regarding attempts to exile Savik Shuster from Ukraine

The International Committee of the free press and protection of journalists’ rights are extremely concerned about the decision of the Ukrainian authorities, who had just forbidden to work in Ukraine known journalist Savik Shuster, who in their programs systematically subjected to ruthless, but justified criticism of the activities of the Ukrainian authorities.

The International Committee for the Protection of the free press and journalists’ rights considers the decision of the Ukrainian authorities as another step on the way of building in Ukraine of the authoritarian regime and the complete destruction in Ukraine, free and independent media authorities.

The International Committee for the Protection of the free press and journalists’ rights calls upon the Ukrainian authorities to immediately note is their scandalous decision in the future will never again allow the repression against the free press and independent journalists.

The International Committee for the Protection of the free press and journalists’ rights clearly states that any whatsoever limit freedom of the press is absolutely not compatible with the generally accepted in the world of democratic status of any country, including Ukraine.
